Deck 13, and publisher Focus Home Interactive, have released the launch trailer for their upcoming ARPG, The Surge.
The Surge, which launches on May 16th for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, is an action-RPG title which sees players navigating, and attempting to survive in, the collapsing, anarchy that follows the collapse of an extraterrestrial megacorperation -CREO- as it’s workers, mechs, and AI go rogue amidst a major attack from strange, alien creatures.
While it’s slow, deliberate combat has been regularly compared to the Souls series; it’s science fiction setting, and dismemberment systems set it far apart. The dismemberment system is actually directly linked to the game’s upgrade and equipment – with your attacks possibly ripping off parts which you can then re-purpose to upgrade your own suit.

“Set in a heavily dystopian future as Earth nears the end of its life, those who remain in the overpopulated cities must work to survive as social programs become saturated by an ageing population and increasing environmental diseases.
