What if every moment that you’ve lived suddenly became a blink in history? Project ReMind puts you in the shoes of an inventor who creates the world’s first truly sentient AI and the centuries that they explore as a result.
Red Hog Studio’s debut game, Project ReMind, is an atmospheric puzzle game that’s rife with rich narrative and impressive set-piece design — so much so, perhaps that it should probably wear the cinematic tag rather than the puzzle one. It drags you through time as your creation, the world’s first artificial consciousness, returns to you to tell you of the spaces and moments in time that it has explored since you brought it into existence.
While at Gamescom I had the chance to go hands on with a very early build, one which demonstrated some of the intricate narrative and story elements of its science-fiction setting. A lot of the early demo was spent moving between trigger points (akin to narrative adventure games) and absorbing a part of the story, however even in its early stages there was an incredible amount of promise in the visual effects and variation of area design. Notably, what I played was also already voiced, and to an incredibly high quality.
I think that the one thing that stood out to me throughout my brief run was the excellent interior lighting and design and how it juxtaposed with the lonely space locations. An immense feeling of scale at times, that made me think of Project ReMind as a fusion of 2001: A Space Odyssey and Dear Esther.

It feels incredibly early to give judgment on it all, especially as so much of the pacing, puzzling and storyline are entirely shrouded within mystery, but I remain curious and keen to see further into its strange time-travelling storyline.
Project ReMind is currently in development for PC, it doesn’t have a scheduled release date.
