Prey’s Usage of CryEngine Will Reportedly Lead to Smoother PC Launch than Dishonored 2
Speaking to GameInformer Raphael Colantonio, the Creative Director at Arkane Studios, spent some time discussing the Dishonored 2 PC launch, and touched on the effects it would have on the launch of their upcoming title, Prey.
In their last Podcast of 2016, The Game Informer Show played host to Arkane’s creative director, Raphael Colantonio, and lead designer, Ricardo Bare. Of the topics discussed, which included a discussion on Bioshock, as well as a topic on expendable NPCs a la Skyrim, most interesting was a brief conversation about the launch of Dishonored 2 on PC, and the changes to process that the team would be taking for upcoming title Prey.
Regarding the launch situation with Dishonored 2 was briefly reflective on the launch, however resolved that the issues had been fixed post release, and had in many ways been caused by a combination of system configurations, as well as the fact the team had repurposed and engineered idTech for the title.
“In the case of Prey” he stated, “we’re using CryEngine,” which is already proven, having shipped titles before. He also added that Prey would see “A bit more Q&A time,” and that, ultimately, they would be “paying more attention for sure.”
You can find an embed of the podcast below, it’s definitely worth a whirl if you’re interested in Prey, and the works of Arkane.
Prey will be launching at some point in 2017 for PS4, Xbox One & PC.
