Pixel Heroes: Byte & Magic Xbox One Version out now.

Pixel Heroes: Byte & Magic from Bitfather games, and publisher HeadUp Games, has launched onto the Xbox One platform today.

For those unaware of the title, it’s a RPG with heavy roguelike mechanics; from randomly generated loot to complete failure and save deletion on party wipe. The game has a great sense of humour delivered through NPC and party-member mutterings as well as the descriptions of the hundreds of items you can obtain.

The game is rendered in a retro, pixelated, style with the music matching the era the developers channelled with the game.

There are three campaigns in the game, with each one featuring various locations and bosses to clamber through; as with any roguelike there’s a degree of fortune required, however players will find themselves more adept as they learn the intricacies of the game – which is handy because the difficulty ramps with the campaigns.

The game is available on the Xbox Store for a price of $9.99 / €9,99 / £7.99.

Our very own Removable Sanity is working on a video review for the title on the Xbox One; however, curious souls would do no harm in catching our regular reviewer Jorge’s video review of the PC version (from it’s launch back in early 2015) over on his old YouTube channel here.
