Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Announced, Seeks Funding on Fig; Details, Trailer Within

After a week of teasing Obsidian pulled back the veils on their next project, Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire.

The new title continues on from the events of the first title after a passage of time, and will see you (if you so wish) continuing the adventures of your character and some of their former comrades as you seek out the formerly totally-dead god who trashed your house and killed a bunch of your buddies.

That said, when the totally-dead god was actually ‘the god of light and rebirth’ you have to wonder who thought it would be a surefire idea to chisel out the gravestone. It’s a bit like burying a phoenix because you’re almost certain it’s definitely dead now.

Your journey to seek revenge, and -ya-know- save the world, takes you to a previously unexplored area of the setting; Deadfire Archipelago.

As evidenced by the name Deadfire Archipelago is not a top-ten holiday location, nor is it a nice little adventurer retirement village. As a matter of fact, I’d say that there’s almost definitely been something to do with bad things and bad fire having happened there which is never a good thing when it comes to land formations with as many vowels in them as archipelago.

The game is currently funding over on FIG where Obsidian are looking for $1,100,000 to aid in further development of the game. At time of posting they’re almost half way there.

As well as the new setting there’s been some major refinements done to the game’s systems; NPC schedules, dynamic weather, multi-class (sixthsense.gif) and a whole lot more. You can get the skinny on those improvements from the trailer at the foot of the post.

Copies of the game start from $29.99, although the real benefit comes from the involvement in the development of the game.
