Ni No Kuni II Looks Dazzling in New Footage

Ni No Kuni II promises to expand on everything the first one offered, and some of its features sound very appealing.

Level-5 are doing their best to fulfill their promise and bring Ni No Kuni II to the world in 2017. For now, we have to settle with trailers and content they decide to drop, like the latest footage in which we can get a taste of world exploration and combat. Both elements present changes over the original Ni No Kuni.

For starters, environments have a different style now, something reminiscing of a diorama. The reason behind it – Siliconera reports in a translation from a Famitsu interview with Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino – hits at a brand new system that can’t yet be revealed. This essentially means there is a clue to something that will be relevant to NNKII in our face, yet we can’t fully grasp what that could be. In any case, the sole presence of the words “Level-5” and “Diorama” in the same context should excite anyone with a love for their previous output.

Kingdom customisation is another feature present in the game, which will allow each player to arrange which buildings get top construction priority by assigning more or less hand of work to building them. This will call for rich diversity between each player’s kindone and the next.

The combat has also flown away from its predecessor’s, in the sense that there is much more character involvement now, whereas familiars (which, by the way, are nowhere to be seen in Ni No Kuni II for now) did most of the work in the first game. Battles now count with the presence of little minions who will certainly make things interesting.

The game is now 45% complete, which means Level-5 have a lot of work ahead if they want to deploy the game this year. You can enjoy the footage mentioned above in the following video.

Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom will release on PlayStation 4 and PC in 2017.
