I’ve played a lot of cat games in the past, especially when it comes to playing together with Robin. She’s a big fan of cats and games that can be played multiplayer (with the mode or without) so it felt fitting that we checked out Musical Memory: Cats Matching Band. This is a cat-themed memory game where the cards mostly have cat band members, who once they are discovered, play on a stage in front of a waiting crowd.
Memory is a game as old as time, it’s simple and something that I feel everyone plays as a child. There is a grid in Musical Memory: Cats Matching Band, and on that grid you select a card, it turns over, and then select another in hopes it matches. It’s revealed for a moment, and if it’s a match they both disappear. Otherwise, they flip over for another go. Musical Memory: Cats Matching Band has a lot of different matches that can be made, some of which being members of the band, who then appear on stage, and others being abilities. The cat holding a Plus Four gives you four extra moves, for example, and the cat with a big spy glass reveals two cards for a moment.
You do have a turn limit and a set amount of rounds for each go, so you will need to be careful and quick about your moves. You do get points for making matches and ending the round completed, along with a star rating for how well you did. This game does have plenty of content, so you won’t find yourself running out of levels either. I do feel that some of the actual musicals don’t really add much to the band — I wish that they had more of an impact when you actually match them and see them appear. I also find the blinking transition at the end of each round to be a little strange — I would much rather it just cut instead of the slower transition, but this is a minor thing.
For a matching game that’s primarily aimed at children, I do think that Musical Memory: Cats Matching Band isn’t too bad of a game. It does everything you’d expect, providing for a pretty neat little game for those who like cats and like matching.
