Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord’s latest patch adds seaborne raids amid other major changes
Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord, the medieval, open-world strategy game, has received a new patch specifically aimed at building out its recent Warsails expansion — although including some really substantial updates for the core game.
It’s now been six months since Bannerlord’s massive War Sails expansion released, adding in naval combat, a new faction and expanding the already generously sized map. When it launched our reviewer, Liam, wrote the following on it:
“If you’re looking to jump back into Calradia the War Sails DLC is the right time to do it with plenty of opportunities to try all new things and take part in a new questline specifically focused around the ships and naval combat and with the new customisation options you can dress to impress with the all new Viking themed hair styles and warpaints. “

Well, refreshingly, developers Taleworlds haven’t been resting on their laurels in the time since. This latest patch adds in a bevy of requested features, including sixteen coastal scenes that tie into the ‘sail-by’ or shoring-up and raiding feature that has now been added into the game. It’s not just raiding though, as you can also target ports and sea lanes, similar to naval sieges, and you’ll spot the AI Nobles doing the same too.
On the War Sails front, three new Nord wanderers, two new ships and two new party roles have been added. You can also, in combat, delegate command of the ship to your crew.
For those who have been enjoying Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord but haven’t got the War Sails expansion yet, there’s also been some refinements for the core game. These include changes to the army costs (which should free up more nobles to wander), a slow-down on auto-resolved sieges, AI tweaks for battles and sieges, stealth options for Hideouts and, critically, an overhaul for diplomacy including alliances and trading.
Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord War Sails is available now for PC, Xbox and PlayStation. This patch note was specifically for the PC version.
