Mini Boss Babble Episode 4: Part 3 – Oversaturation of the Marketplace
Mini Boss Babble are smaller, one topic cuts from our otherwise extensive weekly podcast.
In this, the third part of our fourth Big Boss Babble podcast, we discuss the spooky, scary ‘games crash’ which we’ve been being warned about for years — although we’re really, actually, discussing the oversaturation of the marketplaces due to the increase in games becoming available for sale each day.
In an age when hundreds of games, if not thousands, are being published to platforms which used to be nearly exclusive, marketing and PR has become a lot more than recommended, it’s mandatory.
The real dangers of these shifts? A dissolving of the middle tier of the current development scene; where budgets and shifting distribution shuttered mid-tier publishers and developers over the last decade, this new shift will simply rend their replacements unprofitable if they cannot find a way to secure enough attention on launch.
At least, that’s the danger.
Doomsayer Dann led the discussion while Terry, Jorge & Toby continually told him to put down the bell and sandwich board and instead concentrate on nicer things.
