Developer: Fumiko Game Studio
What type of game is it?
What do we like most about it?
If Fumiko! means ‘jumping through a broken cyberspace where shapes and data float serenely through the nothingness as your character attempts to journey to a better time, and place, and evade the shadowy bytes trying to purge yourself and the passive data of the world’ then the game is completely bang on the buck.
Apparently -however- it’s a Japanese Feminine name, so I guess that probably needs redefining, or something.
Fumiko! looks absolutely fantastic, and while the structure of the game’s story over its four chapters is currently only being teased, we can assume that there is a great evil growing in the cyberspace, while you yourself -led by your bitty buddy- also grow in power in preparation for a final showdown, a gamble on the lives of the many, innocent entities and AIs within the machine. That’s A-OK with me; the lofty jumps, lurid landscapes, and atmospheric music will carry me through the game even if the story doesn’t.
When’s it due?
Fumiko! is set to release before the end of January 2017 for Windows PC, Mac & Linux.
