After extensive leaks and rumors, Mario and Rabbids crossover RPG Switch title is now an official reality, and it’s coming very soon.
Ubisoft decided to open their E3 press conference to quite the unlikely alliance: Mario and Rabbids are teaming up in a brand new crossover RPG, titled Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. The game has faced blatant leaking and exposure before official word has come out, so a vast majority of what was presented was already in the know of the informed community, including its August 29 release date.
However, gameplay debuted for the first time, featuring exploration and turn-based combat reminiscent of the XCOM series. Characters and enemies can move within a certain range and use cover to their advantage, adding a strategic factor to it.
For every Mario character (counting Mario himself, Luigi, Peach and Yoshi), we have a Rabbid disguised as each of them, including a very sassy, potentially hilarious Peach Rabbid. The game oozes uniqueness and the concept present itself as interesting to the audience, who reacted on a mostly positive way to the reveal.
Shigeru Miyamoto came on stage to present the title together with Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot. You can watch the game’s reveal trailer below.
