Dreamcore launches its final episode: Dead Mall
Dreamcore, a psychological exploration horror game, has released their final episode on all platforms. This is the fifth and final episode of their cult favorite surreal body-cam psychological horror game called Dead Mall, completing the storyline.
We previously reviewed Dreamcore. When we covered it we wrote the following of its design and visual appeal:
“With that aside, this is a solid liminal space game that makes good use of its art style to give a faux realistic look. The echoey sounds and use of directional audio really sell the space when using headphones. If you’re after another offering in this niche area, then there are worse options than Dreamcore, just be aware that a large portion of the game isn’t there yet.”
Dead Mall puts players in a nightmarish plaza with all of the staples that you’d expect to see in a childhood version shopping mall, but with the majority of it contorted into an uncanny ordeal. You can delve into a subliminal arcade, explore a strange parking lot, walk around the food court, and also head along to check out all of the isolated shops.
The Dead Mall map in Dreamcore has been created with community feedback in mind, as many players have requested a map that doesn’t have quite as many hurdles. This is exactly what the map does. The idea of this map is to fully soak you in the atmosphere of the mall without any of the usual pressures. You can head straight to the elevator and move on, assuming that you can manage to find the elevator among the labyrinthine corridors.
Dreamcore also has two other expansions that have released; The Playrooms and Liminal Hotel, for even more spaces to explore if you are into this type of horror.
Dreamcore is available now on PC, via Steam.
