Red Rising, the critically acclaimed board game based on Pierce Brown’s bestselling sci-fi saga, is going to have a digital adaptation. This one to six player game allows players to control followers from rival houses, in a game of hand management. You will need to trigger powerful card effects, battle for dominance throughout the galaxy, and hinder your opponents to be the best in the best of the best.

We previously reviewed the board game:

“It’s the kind of simple, fast-paced game that can still challenge players and make demands of them to pay attention, take appropriate risks and plan for the long term whilst dealing with adversity. Honestly, I think Red Rising is a very clever, very enjoyable experience and I am looking forward to trying it with new people going forward.”

The Red Rising Board Game is Great for Fans, Good for Everyone Else

The digital version of Red Rising is meant to be the physical game brought to life; The digital cards will, as with the physical ones, have animation, gold foils and dynamic effects. Custom voice-over performances is also planned with hopes that it will bring more character to them. There are also digital tools that will help you play the game faster and make it more immersive like instant scoring, rules on command, and a codex that dives deeper into the colours, houses, and lore of the game.

For fans of the physical game or fans who like card games, Red Rising is aiming to have it all.

“Partnering on Red Rising is one of those rare moments when we get to work on something we’re huge fans of ourselves,” said Derek Day, CEO of Emerald City Games.

“We approached Stonemaier because of our deep love for the game, and we’re thrilled to bring the full experience to PC.” Jamey Stegmaier, founder of Stonemaier Games, added: “We’ve been waiting for the right team to do justice to Red Rising digitally. Emerald City Games shares our passion for the IP, and we’re looking forward to giving players a new way to experience the game.”
