Darkest Dungeon: The Crimson Court, Sales Figures Released and PS4 Release Date Confirmed

Red Hook Studios have released an update on their blog confirming that their The Crimson Court DLC for Darkest Dungeon has sold excess of 175k units. They also took the time to confirm the release date for the PS4 & Playstation Vita versions of the content.

In a recent blog, Red Hook Studios, the creators of Darkest Dungeon, confirmed rough sales figures for their game’s first expansion as well as confirming the release date for the DLC on Sony’s consoles.

The Crimson Court is a campaign which runs parallel to the main game, with events and features unlocking as the traditional game is bested. The DLC adds five news bosses including a wandering one, ten new buildings for players’ hamlet, new trinket sets for each heroes, a new hero class, and more.

Darkest Dungeon, for those unfamiliar, is a dungeon delving roguelike which features side-on turn-based combat. It’s best known for it’s dark, grim setting, it’s flawed heroes, and it’s affliction system which can see party members succumb to stress, paranoia and more if not managed correctly.

The Crimson Court is the first expansion for the game, with the PC version launching back on the 19th of June, 17 months after the release of the core game.

Regarding the Playstation versions of the title, their blog entry (from Tyler Sigman, Co-Founder & Game Design Director) said the following:  “One of the most common questions we have right now from the community is, ‘When will the DLC hit PSN?’ After reviewing the work that’s left to be done for bug tickets and support issues, and factoring in the time to get through certification and store prep, we are targeting August 22nd. This is a bit later than we originally intended, but it will result in the most stable and smooth release, which is ultimately the most important factor. August 22nd isn’t that far away and we are excited to bring the DLC to our PS4 and PS VITA players.”

The same blog entry also confirmed that the game had already exceeded over 175,000 units sold. You can read more information on that, and on several planned fixes which have been announced, here.

You can find the launch trailer for the PC version of the expansion below.

Darkest Dungeon: The Crimson Court is already available for Windows PC, Mac, and Linux (Steam). It will launch on the Playstation 4 and Playstation Vita on the 22nd of August.
