Dandy Rat Cricket Club Brings Sophistication to The Sewer

0
Dandy Rat Cricket Club is one of those games where everything you need to know is in the name, it’s a couple of dandy rats (complete with fancy names) playing cricket. What more could you ask for?

As I wandered around the recent Brilliant Indie Treasures on the Golden Hinde, Dandy Rat Cricket Club immediately drew my attention because of both its clever design and its absurd concept.

With several locations, such as a snooker table or the sewers, for the rats to play cricket and with them having possibly-authentic rat names like Barry Cheese and K.L. Bin, Dandy Rat Cricket Club’s concept does a lot of the heavy lifting. With your colourful collection of rats you’ll also be able to customise your bowling and batting techniques giving a surprisingly deeper layer of gameplay that I didn’t expect from what sounds like a silly game about silly little rats.

There are currently single player and 1 vs 1 multiplayer formats available, letting you take on the AI or a friend. The formats are available locally on a LAN network but will also be supported through online multiplayer.

One of the more interesting things to point out is that, according to the Steam page, a controller is required to play, which I do understand especially with the batting/bowling techniques and how you have to kind of guide where you want the ball to go using a joystick but it was still a surprising thing to see.

As you would expect to see with the dandiest of rats they do have small hats, outfits, bow ties so you can be sure that your team will be well equipped, if not with skills then with the finest of attire as they bat away in the sewer.

Dandy Rat Cricket Club doesn’t currently have a confirmed release date but you can stay up to date by checking out its Steam page.
