Crusader Kings III on Console Gets Major Expansion with Roads to Power

0

Crusader Kings III is a grand strategy roleplaying game that’s set in the Middle Ages. It’s a very much enjoyed addition to the series, one which we have previously reviewed, but that’s not why we’re writing today. No, we’re writing today to note that Paradox have just announced that the Roads to Power expansion has released for the Xbox and PlayStation versions.

From our previous review:

“There’s so much that couldn’t be touched on in this review, like how nice it is when the main menu shows your character, their spouse and heir, or when the characters hit little poses for certain actions. It really does feel like no area has gone untouched when it came to updating the formula of the last game.

These improvements to pacing, refining of features and the fact that the new revision of the engine abolishes the chugging of content-heavy CKII, makes Crusader Kings III a very worthy successor.”

Crusader Kings III — A worthy successor to the grand-strategy throne?

The Roads to Power expansion allows you to start the game as a landless adventurer, free to explore new focus trees and traits as you roam the a deeply researched map (that’s historical until you unpause) of the medieval world, looking to find contracts as a problem solver or mercenary. You can play parts in various schemes and uprisings, as well as rise to become a mercenary or rebel leader on your quest for knowledge or power. It, delightfully, gives the other side of many events — making for a fun experience for anybody who has sunk multiple hours into Crusader Kings III as a ruler.

There is also a new form of government inspired by the Byzantine Empire, which is based less on ancestral claims to titles and more on seeking imperial favour for your noble house. You can now run and manage a powerful Family Estate, with the seat of your house’s power (even if you have no other land), constructing new buildings and improvements to further your rule.

Along with this expansions, they are also releasing the Wandering Nobles event pack, which includes new stories that emphasize the traveling aspects of Crusaders Kings III. This includes three new branches (Inspector, Wayfarer and Voyager) along with new activities and new events.
