Circuit Breakers: PS4 & Xbox One Release Date Confirmed
July 25th PS4 & Xbox One release date announced for Circuit Breakers.
Excalibur Games and developer Triverske have confirmed the released date for the Xbox One & PS4 versions of twin-stick, co-operative shooter Circuit Breakers. Both versions of the game will release on the 25th of July as digital copies on the relevant storefronts.
For those who are unfamiliar with the game, it’s an arcade shooter wherein up to six players (on PC & Xbox, four on PS4) share a screen as they hold off wave after wave of robots. After a certain amount of enemies are felled the room is cleared, and the next one (or a boss) is served up next. Each of the six Circuit Breakers have their own weapon type, ranging from flamethrowers through lasers to shotguns, which levels up in damage based on the amount of ammo the player is holding. This means that careful players can deal more damage with their shots, while reckless players might be good for suppression against weaker enemies, but do less damage.
Having played the PC version of the game, I’m happy to report that the retro visuals (don’t they just look like wonderful Gunstar Heroes tributes?) and music is absolutely fantastic, and the pacing of the waves builds up really well as the game goes on.
With the announcement of the release date also came confirmation of how the game’s co-operative play would work on the two platforms. The Xbox One version will be able to support six controllers locally, while the PS4 version can only support four. That said, with the Share Play feature you can effectively run ‘local co-op’ over the internet with just one copy of the game – bonus.
Circuit Breakers launches on Xbox One & PS4 on the 25th of July. It is already available on Steam following it’s launch there in late 2015.
