Anew: The Distant Light Heading to Kickstarter Next Week

Anew: The Distant Light, an open-world exploration game by Resonator Games is heading to Kickstarter next week.

Resonator Games announced that they are bringing the singleplayer title, Anew: The Distant Light to Kickstarter next week on February the 14th 2017.

Anew: The Distant Light will take players on a side-scrolling adventure, where they find themselves as one of the last born babies to a dying planet. Shipped off to safety via a rocket ship, the player wakes up twenty years later on the ship with a destroyed chamber next to them. They set out to find who travelled with them, and where they are.

The two developers, Steve Copeland, and Jeff Spoonhower are former AAA developers with titles under their belts such as, Bioshock 2, Command & Conquer, Lord of the Rings: Battle For Middle Earth, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, and much more.

With a rather unique looking art style with hand drawn environments, creatures, and enemies, this looks like a very interesting title. It features a soundtrack composed by Wilbert Roget, a veteran composer who has worked on composing and arranging music for titles such as Dead Island 2, Monkey Island: Special Edition, Star Wars: The Old Republic, and more.

The game features are,

  • Explore a huge, diverse, open game world
  • Unlock the power of your home ship
  • Collect, upgrade, and master game-changing weapons and equipment
  • Pilot powerful machines and vehicles
  • Navigate dynamic, harsh surface conditions to discover rare creatures and hidden secrets
  • Solve the mystery of your missing co-pilot and save a dying Earth

The Kickstarter has a goal of $30,000 and already has a dramatic trailer which can be found below which shows puzzle solving, battles, and the lots of fluid explosives!.

No platforms have been announced, but the press release states that the two developers, “are thrilled to be able to focus their time and energy on producing awesome, original titles for PC and consoles.” This could mean a PC release as well as a PS4 and Xbox One release. But we’ll have to wait and see!
