A Plague Tale: Innocence’s Latest Trailer Introduces the Protagonists, and Plague-Torn France
A Plague Tale: Innocence, from developer Asobo Studio and publisher Focus Home Interactive, has received it’s first trailer as well as some information on the game’s story.
Released earlier today, the trailer introduces the two main characters -siblings Amicia and Hugo- as the skitter around the dangerous, rat-infested ruins of a town in 14th century France. Inquisitors are about, hunting down the children and other orphans, while the French countryside is devoured by the starving supernatural rats which had brought the plague fleas, and have grown numerous and bold in the chaos.
It’s an interesting idea, with the rats working as both a driving force in moving the player forward -only fire and light stops them- and as a potential weapon versus the inquisitors who are hunting down the children. The supernatural setting explains away why the rats are so deadly, and also why the destruction is so thorough – historically the plague at that time wiped out a third of the population, these look as though they won’t stop until full.
Players will guide the siblings on their flight from village to village, platforming and sneaking as they try to find their way to safety.
