Noun Town Language Learning has launched on PC

Noun Town Language Learning is an educational yet fun language learning game that has over 1,000 words and phrases in 12 different languages, aiming at allowing users to learn a language without ads or subscriptions. The focus instead is on exploring a vibrant world and learning vocabulary through mini-games and speaking to NPCs within the game itself

We previously previewed the game:

“Exploring around Noun Town Language Learning is free form and fun. There isn’t a whole lot of direction and instead you can spend your time exploring and discovering the various things you want to learn. I got the chance to play some of Noun Town Language Learning at WASD this year — which I would argue isn’t the best place to actually play the game as the microphone couldn’t pick up me speaking against the background noise. Still, I was impressed by what I saw and really enjoyed the graphics of the game too, which felt quirky and captivating.”

Noun Town was on Steam Early Access from its debut through until today, where it has now fully launched as version 1.0. The game has reached more than 200,000 players across all platforms since the Early Access launch, and now is being released alongside a free, browser-based SRS practice tool that you can link your game to, then access the full SRS review queue from any device. This tool will allow players to keep up their spaced repetition practice between gaming sessions without having to open the game and play it on Steam.

For school use, a version of Noun Town is being brought to the classroom and licensed as a real learning opportunity, which makes a whole lot of sense considering their goals and the way that the game has been created and received

Noun Town is available now for both PC and Mac, via Steam.
