ARTE France Announces Narrative Exploration Game Beyond the Plastic Wall
ARTE France who previously released Inua — A Story in Ice and Time have announced Beyond the Plastic Walla new, emotional narrative game that’s in development.
Beyond the Plastic Walls is a 2.5D narrative adventure game where players explore through a stunning yet fundamentally and abandoned broken world through the eyes of Hal, a young scavenger who has some talents when it comes to older technology. However, Hal has one real goal – to deliver a box of lost letters to their rightful owner.
Hal will need to travel across the decaying world, visiting abandoned cities and dying shores, finding what remains of the humans that once dominated these places. There is a story behind the letters that he has, which is shown through these places and what they have left behind. Hal also has the skill to restore some of what is found throughout his travels. The fixing of items is done through puzzles grounded in mechanical logic in Beyond the Plastic Walls; restoring rusted engines, deciphering a coded telephone or navigating the secrets of an old achieve computer – all of these puzzles have a different challenge but share an interconnected language of sorts.
The movement and graphics of Beyond the Plastic Wall look stunning, and from ARTE France’s previous work, we know the story is going to feel fantastic. The world is abandoned, but at the same time, it’s full of plants and remains of technology from times past. It’s an interesting world, so full of curious puzzles, and finding the owner of the letters that you have, seems like a great way to spend time in a listless world that seems to currently lack any real purpose, drive or potential.
Currently, there isn’t a release date for Beyond the Plastic Wall, however you can wishlist the game on Steam ahead of it’s PC release.
