The Surge Release Month Confirmed Alongside Game Cinematic Release
Focus Home Interactive have a cinematic trailer for upcoming ARPG The Surge, as well as confirming the target release month; May 2017.
It’s a short cinematic which gives a wee bit of a background on protagonist Warren who -as it turns out- is having not just a ‘Bad day at the office’, but also a pretty terrible first day at the new job.
The Surge follows Warren as he survives the fallout of a bad coincidence in his exo-suit installation timing perfectly with mega-corp (and new employer) CREO suffering a major… problem. As a result you’ll be smashing your exo-suit, and anything you can grab, through various robotics, nutty workmates, and more as you try to survive a pretty hellish first day.
The game combines the heavy combat of the Souls series (Deck 13 made Lords of the Fallen, oft credited as the first Souls like, but infact a much more defensive than dodge-based game) with a dismemberment system which allows you to re-purpose parts of your fallen enemies to benefit yourself. That’s recycling!
Those interested in the game wouldn’t do wrong by checking out the four minutes of combat that we covered previously.
More details on the game will be shared by Focus on February 1st & 2nd at their event in Paris. We’re not there this year, but we’ll have the news here on the site for sure.
