It’s a case of ‘does what it says on the tin’ for this post readers, unlike Pit People, which might well have started off as a game where you just fight people in a gladiatorial pit, but now has an extensive overworld filled with strange dangers, a malicious narrator-cum-god-type, and a surprising amount of non ‘people’ to fight with you the in the titular pit.
We’ve covered Pit People a fair bit over the last short while, and it has been for a good reason, my time with the beta was thoroughly enjoyed; both as a player seeking a new game, and as a longtime strategy fan looking for something that isn’t scared to change up the tried and tested methods laid out by turn-based games before.
Sure, you still have your ranged, healing, tank, and DPS classes, but they come in quirky forms like zombies, cupcakes, unicorns, and vampires. There’s also a massive depth of customisation to be done, and you can take you current team to ‘the pit’ for offline or online matches regardless of your squad make-up.
