Youtubers Life 2 is more fun than being a Youtuber

To be honest, I didn’t think I would like Youtubers Life 2. I have not played the first game, and felt like I just wouldn’t enjoy a tycoon game about making and editing videos for Youtube. But, Youtubers Life 2 has proven that becoming a famous youtuber and influencer can be fun, especially through a quest-driven, brightly-colored world where everything is… vastly easier than real life.

Opening the game, you get to design a pretty cute avatar to play as, before learning that you have been invited to move to a new city full of Youtubers and become a famous one yourself. It’s a bit unbelievable that you are getting this opportunity despite not having a Youtube channel or any form of social media, but why not dive in?

In the new city, you are shown different equipment and given tasks throughout the day that help you grow your following. At first, it’s just making vlogs, commentary videos, and gaming videos, then editing them on your PC by plugging together clips, before picking out a title and pushing them live, but soon you will need to understand and manage other forms of social media to continue to grow your following as well.

Youtubers Life 2 works on an energy system, and it takes energy to edit and shoot videos, so you will need to manage this while trying to build your following. Eating food, which does cost money, can help your energy increase, but, at first, it does take a lot of food to actually make a difference. You can visit lots of locations through the world, to talk to people, eat, and purchase new items.

Each day you are told the trending hashtags on Youtube and on social media — something that would be insanely amazing to have in real life — and all of these hashtags are relevant to you. You can use them to decide what to do with your day and which areas of the world to explore. Using these hashtags will really help you grow your audience faster, especially when you make a video with a hashtag and then post a picture with the same hashtag, to really benefit from all platforms.

As you play around in Youtubers Life 2, not only will you get to know the people of your town, but you will also be able to upgrade your gaming set-up, add more effects when editing videos, and benefit from becoming a rising star. You will need to invest in your set-up, purchase new, popular games and upgrade your PC. And, you won’t earn much from your content creation at first, so instead you will probably need to spend some of your day doing commissions from the app of the same name. These have timers on them, so you need to be quick and know where the world is.

Youtubers Life 2 has a lot of detail and polish to it, more than I expected. As you grow your following and get to know people in your town, you will learn more about them and how to better keep yourself heading in the right direction. You do have a helper robot that not only records you but also helps you with tips and tricks.

There is also always something to look forward to in Youtubers Life 2; In the same way that Stardew Valley has events, there are events that can really help you when it comes to your following. PlayCon is the first event, and it will cost a pretty penny to attend — unless you find another way to grab a ticket! Either way, you won’t want to miss this, and will need to continue to gain fame as it approaches.

Youtubers Life 2

I have spent a handful of hours in the game and have really enjoyed my time with Youtubers Life 2. I love finding new locations, posing for pictures, and connecting up videos for my audience. Rarely do clip bate titles work for me, which is something I find really funny, and I often spend all of my energy too fast, and have to purchase so many bowls of ramen to fix it!

You can find Youtubers Life 2 on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and PC.
