Walking Dead: A New Frontier First Episode Dated, Detailed.

Telltale Games have today confirmed details regarding the release schedules for the first episode of their new, third series of The Walking Dead.

The season, like it’s predecessors, will be five episodes long, and will launch on PC, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4 and PS3, as well as on select iOS & Android devices. December 20th is the date pencilled for the first episode to start becoming available across the platforms, however there’s no detail on whether there’s a staggered delay for certain ones — as the wording stresses it will roll out “starting” that date.

More details are expected to be confirmed around December 1st when there will be an extended showing of the first episode at The Game Awards. As of yet all we’ve seen is a teaser trailer showing us a new character alongside Clem – more on them in a moment.

The developers have also got a physical edition in the works, with a February 7th release date pencilled in for the “Season Pass Disc” for PS4 & Xbox One. The disc will include the first episode, as well as a key which allows you to download the remaining four episodes as they launch.

Notably only the first episode is confirmed for the disc, meaning we cannot even begin to guess at the launch roadmap for the episodes; previously episodes have launched with anything between 6 weeks to nearly three month gaps.

The developers have also confirmed some extra details relating to the characters —

“When family is all you have left… how far will you go to protect it? Four years after society was ripped apart by undead hands, pockets of civilization emerge from the chaos. But at what cost? Can the living be trusted on this new frontier? As Javier, a young man determined to find the family taken from him, you meet a young girl who has experienced her own unimaginable loss. Her name is Clementine, and your fates are bound together in a story where every choice you make could be your last. “

What is most of note is that it looks like, much like Season One, Clementine will play a large role, but not be the main character of the series.

Season Two left Clementine in one of three states, however with the diversity of the endings it is more than likely that the game will have cut all ties to any of the characters who we saw die in various playthroughs. That leaves us with a limited selection of Mike, Arvo, Crista, Molly, and possibly Lily, to return from previous series.

You can find below the announce teaser for the game from E3 2016. When we got our first look at Clem and Javier.
