Yogscast Games, the publishers behind games like Observation Duty 8 and Rhell: Warped Worlds and Troubled Times, have announced the next game they’ll be publishing: The Subminer. It’s a spooky, underwater mining exploration game, which you can wishlist on Steam now.

This spooky looking, survival-exploration game takes you into the deep and dark waters of an alien planet, where you are humanity’s only hope after a massive explosion has decimated a research base and contact has been lost. You aren’t really designed for such big expectations – being a small prototype bio-droid that was just made for smaller tasks under the sea. Instead, you need to go through deeper and darker levels, mine for resources and battle against anything that is getting your in way.

The Subminer‘s world is fully destructible and procedurally generated, giving you a different experience each time you jump into the game. You need to be careful of what you are mining and where, as your survival hinges on your ability to read the environment and defend against the terrors hiding in the darkness. There are also chain reactions that can happen, which might open up new paths or bring about to much destruction.

Along with all this terror, there are also NPCs, shops hidden in the depths, and side quests that you can take on. You can go outside your submarine and explore in your diving suit, getting to areas that your ship might be too big to get to, but at the risk of your own health. There are different abilities to unlock, upgrades to find, and specialists who need rescuing and can then help you.

For those who like things a little spooky and full of challenge, The Subminer seems like an interesting entry to the survival-exploration genre. This game is going to be released later this year.
