Pokemon Go Welcomes Gen 2 This Week
The chase to catch’em all continues as Pokemon from Gen 2 make their way to the real world.
Following the absolutely smashing fever that surrounded Pokemon Go since it launched, a sense of thirst for new Pokemon was in the hearts of pretty much every player in the world. That thirst will be quenched this week, with the release of new Pokemon for the game, in particular those belonging to the second generation of Pokemon (those which debuted in Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal)
Niantic have made the announcement earlier today with a trailer – that you can see at the end of this piece – and a press release in which we get to know that 80 new Pokemon will be available for trainers to catch. They are not coming alone, though, as different tweaks like new berries, evolutions and updates to some mechanics are also on the way.
Fans of the game have now more reasons to celebrate, following the just-finished Valentine’s Day event. It is worth noting, though, that the total number of Gen 2 Pokemon is 100, yet Pokemon Go seems to be getting only 80 of those…..if we rule out baby Pokemon (which can be hatched from eggs since December) and legendaries (which don’t seem to be in the game unless you hack your way to them) the number may just round down to 80 indeed, but we can’t know for sure just yet.
You can enjoy the reveal trailer below and get your hands on the new Pokemon starting later this week.
