Mutropolis — An archeologyst’s mystery

Point and click adventure game Mutropolis takes you into a dig site full of some old stuff to be discovered and some strange new items to check out.

Mutropolis is a pixel art, sci-fi, post-apocalyptic adventure — and that’s a lot of words to describe it. In the Casual Connect demo, playing as a geeky but somewhat timid individual, you need to solve the mystery surrounding a dig site. Surrounded by a cast of interesting characters; an old, grumpy scientist, a mysterious woman, and a pre-occupied guy who is busy helping someone who is down a hole, and more.

You’ve discovered a door which seems old, however not everything is how it seems. You are used to finding treasures which are marked with the words ‘Made in China’ and other objects that are hundreds of years old, but some strange markings can make items look old when they are actually rather new. Thanks to some inventions that have come with the times, you are able to easily find out the dates of items, all in the hope of figuring out what is going on.

Much like traditional point and click adventure games, you have your inventory and items that you need to use and find. There is a lot of mystery behind what is happening within Mutropolis and with my limited time I was unable to really explore it all. What I did get was a taste of the game’s future world, with its strange door and very well written characters. I’m interested in seeing more.

Mutropolis is set to release later this year on PC, Mac and Linux.
