Level-5 Announce 12 Week Long ARG Ahead of Katrielle & the Millionaires’ Conspiracy Launch

Three-month long ARG announced ahead of Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires’ Conspiracy release.

In what is possibly one of the most unexpected press releases of the month, Level-5 and ‘Real Escape Game’ creator SCRAP have announced a worldwide ARG for upcoming title Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires’ Conspiracy.

The augmented reality game will feature fifty puzzles across 10 countries, and all be coordinated on the official game site: http://layton.world

LAYTON’S MYSTERY JOURNEY: REAL WORLD PUZZLE SOLVING will be held over a three-month period, between June 20 (Tuesday) and September 21 (Thursday). Starting in Japan, the event will expand to nine other countries. In fact, the inaugural puzzle will be presented today by Pikotaro, creator of the viral song “PPAP (Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen)

A giant puzzle piece will suddenly appear in London’s Waterloo Station’s event space, so head on over to the busiest railway station in the UK!

It’s always interesting to see ARGs deployed on such a large scale; more interestingly the website uses Alphabet’s Google Translate AI to allow people from around the world to work together on solving the puzzles.

The game launches July 20th worldwide for mobile, it also launches on the same day for 3DS in Japan, with other region’s release dates yet to be announced.
