Leslie Benzies Invests in Scottish Audio Tech Company “Krotos”

Former Rockstar president, Leslie Benzies has invested in a Scottish audio tech company named, Krotos to further strengthen his new empire, and there’s more talk about VR.

The Scottish audio tech company founded by Orfeas Boteas, named him company Krotos, and they are known for their Dehumaniser voice tools, and have worked on many video games and movies in the past. Krotos are based in Edinburgh, and have worked alongside names such as Disney, and Warner Brothers to create incredible monster sounds with their Dehumaniser voice tools.

The next few years will open up exciting possibilities for new media, as audio is now more challenging than ever with Virtual Reality, Augmented reality and Mixed reality. The Dehumaniser has helped movies such as Avengers: Age of Ultron, and games such as, Farcry 4, DOOM, and even League of Legends, creature some high quality monster sound effects.It was a software initially designed as part of Boteas’ Masters degree in Sound Design, which enabled the user to create imaginary creature and monster sounds in real time. It was a innovative method that helped speed up the process of creating the sounds through intense editing.

The main investment from Benzies and the co-funding for the six-figure deal provided by the Old College Capital will help the company to expand into VR, as well as doubling the headcount to twenty.

Benzies will be joining the Krotos board with non-executive directors, Matthew Smith (a former audio director for Rockstar North, IT Entrepreneur, Ian Ritchie, and Financial Expert, Colin Grant.

Benzies has been a busy man recently with him opening up his own firms at the beginning of this year and then going on to open another studio and recruiting a former Crytek Hungary boss.
