What’s the 30 second elevator pitch?
What looks like a classic vertical brick buster formula but laced with neon, enemies and, well, the fact that you’re actually rotating circularly around the target rather than sliding on a horizontal axis underneath it.
What do we like most about it?
If you strip back the flashing lights and erratic enemies -wonderful as they are- you find a game that looks like a long-lost arcade classic. In fact the whole game looks like a 20th anniversary edition of said game.
Erratic and fast paced is good, and while I really feel like I have no idea what the icons in the top left of the game screen actually mean, the entire gameplay looks satisfyingly explosive. Combine that with the fact that the directions (albeit maybe not the facings) are easy enough to understand, and there’s a mass of playable bombers, it looks like there’s a massive amount to offer. Even if it isn’t a remaster of a long lost classic.
When’s it due?
Hive Bomber is set to launch early 2017 for Windows PC.
