Edifier QR65 – Flashy, medium-sized speakers

0
After checking out the Edifier M60, I was curious about the slightly larger upgrade that is the Edifier QR65. This speaker is bigger, has more lighting feature, and of course has some fantastic sound quality. You can connect via Bluetooth or connect it to your computer directly, making these speakers great for multi-media use, and they look sleek to boot.

Let’s talk about the design of the Edifier QR65 – the speakers themselves have mirrors on the front, reflecting whatever is beyond them. They also have lights around the side, which has it’s own brightness dial on the side. These lights move around and glow, which feels really fun for someone line me, who enjoys a bit of color and customization. You can completely turn off the light via the dial on the side as well, if you don’t care for them. There is a volume button and a on/off button on the same speaker as the light brightness nob is. The on/off button, when pressed once, tries to connect via Bluetooth, on the second press it attempts USB connection, and on the third it uses the Line In plug on the back to connect. This gives you a variety of different options when it comes to connectivity.

When it comes to the sound, much like any Edifier product, it’s very good. I plugged these speakers into my computer and watched a movie, where I could hear everything perfectly. It doesn’t get too, too loud, even at the highest volume. Music plays well through the Edifier QR65 too, the bass is good and it has a clear treble, so you won’t be having any real issues using them.

If you are into customizing your sound, when connecting via Bluetooth, you can download the Edifier ConneX phone app, which allows you to change the lighting effects, pick from different audio codecs or customize your own, along with some other little things you can adjust. There isn’t a way to do any of this if you are just using the Edifier QR65 as a PC speaker, however.

When it comes to using them on your PC, they actually don’t turn off when your PC turns off and you cannot adjust the volume as well without going over and touching the physical nobs on the side of the speaker. This feels a little strange, as they are meant to be desktop speakers as well as ones to connect to mobile, but it’s not too annoying. The speakers also come with a stand each, which angles them, helping with the sound.

Overall, I feel that the Edifier QR65 is a fun mid-tier speaker. I do very much enjoy the lighting on them and feel that they’d be perfect for a party or gaming den, where they have a lot of character!
