Sequel to popular restaurant manager-server-cleaner-juggler-panic-panic-panic title coming to Steam on the 24th of August.
Cook, Serve, Delicious! 2!!, the long-awaited sequel to the 2013 classic, has received a PC release date, and it’s surprisingly soon – the 24th of August.
The game, from Vertigo Gaming Inc, expands massively on the formula of the first title, adding a new type of campaign mode which sees you working in a variety of restaurants -as opposed to running your own- alongside a mode like in the original. There’s a massively expanded menu roster, with over 180 options to add to your daily menu, which means the options are over 6 times that of the first title.
There’s also a co-operative mode which you can see in the below trailer; for the new mode the game goes split-screen as and when a second player is present (it’s drop-in, drop-out).
For those unfamiliar with the first game, or even wondering how such a game could be fun; the first title saw you building up a restuarant from scratch, upgrading facilities and buying machines to make your life easier, all while changing up the menu to suit your customers. Each in-game day would see customers heading up to your counter and requesting something from your menu, which you then served up by either clicking with the mouse, or (much faster) tapping keys or buttons. Every so often something would go wrong and you’d have to repair, arrest, or clean, it.
In many ways it played like a rhythm game, or even a typing challenge (akin to typing of the dead) in that you would receive visual clues, and there were only ever so many options to choose from.
Between the day-shift you could answer various messages on email and phone, while also trying to rank up your restaurant to be able to purchase (and afford) better equipment.
You can find a gameplay video below which shows off the new, improved visuals, some new recipes, the co-operative mode, and a particularly manic rush-hour.
Cook, Serve, Delicious! 2!! will launch on PC on the 24th of August, and head to PS4 at a later point in time. You can wishlist the game on Steam here.
