Atomic Society Update Adds Deadly Trio of Drugs, Euthenasia, Janitors

Atomic Society’s next major content update will mark a strengthening of mid-game complexity, with new character traits and the first moves towards implementing a manufacturing infrastructure.

Far Road Games’ next update for Atomic Society focuses on deepening both social and manufacturing elements in the game. Player’s survivors can now generate with one of several new traits; a want to undergo a gender transition, a drug dependency, or vegetarianism. Each of these can, or will need to be, dealt with in their own way to keep the settlement content.

In addition to keeping the settlement content through surgery, drug-supply, and non-meat alternatives, euthanasia has also been added to the game which will allow for characters both unfit or unhappy to voluntarily end their lives. The update critically also brings along the means for this to deploy without the doctor getting arrested for murder, and the euthanised not being marked as a murderer.

Other changes include a maintenance shack which -like in the Impressions City Builders (Caesar, Zeus, etc)- will generate repairmen who ensure buildings don’t collapse killing their occupants. The shack joins the game as well as the Chemist, a building which refines collected herbs into both drugs and medical supplies — giving the first hint of a multi-tiered industry setting to the game. Wonderful.

Atomic Society, for those not aware, sees players building and maintaining a colony of post-apocalyptic survivors. It’s no simple colony game however, as the developers are constantly adding new challenging, and moral situations to the game. Readers might remember when we discussed the game’s option to jail and execute prisoners, and inform players of the executed’s innocence, back with update blog 18.

Those interested can find out more information on the game’s IndieDB page, here. You can find a promotional trailer for the game below.

Atomic Society will be available on Steam in early 2018, however we do recommend eager players consider buying the alpha on the developer site, here.
