Rogue Eclipse Straps You Into The Cockpit For Space Dogfights
Rogue Eclipse, an arcade space-roguelike, was showcased at Brilliant Indie Treasures showing off its fast-paced space combat in the hull of a pirate ship no-less although there was significantly less laser cannons aboard the Golden Hinde.
Shields, weapons and everything down to your engine can be customised into your own unique ship in Rogue Eclipse, with chances to build and modify spinning up from your first early victory. While it was snuck in there, Rogue Eclipse’s name betrays its run-based, roguelike structure, and in keeping with that you’ll be tweaking and refining your ship through semi-random choices between battles.

In action Rogue Eclipse is fast, fluid and fun, I was constantly trying to adapt to the new enemies throughout the demo with a mix of small fast ships and larger more strategic ships (complete with devastating weapons) coming in alongside the nippy fighters. You are constantly being challenged and it feels great.
Rogue Eclipse was also visually amazing and for such an often fast paced game I did find myself occasionally taking a few moments to enjoy the various asteroid-filled arenas that I was fighting for my life in.

There was a large focus on locking-on to enemies as you take part in the space dog-fights, thanks in part to the speed of the whole thing, but also due to the fact you’re fighting on many axes. I do wish that there was some sort of animation for spins/turns to help make that movement a bit more fluid but other than that I can find no faults, it was enjoyable through my entire time with it.
Rogue Eclipse is available now for PC.
