Eye-Tracking Tech Coming to Dying Light; Detailed in Trailer
Techland have announced and detailed an eye-tracking update set to come to Dying Light: The Following – Enhanced Edition thanks to a partnership with Tobii.
Owners of Techland’s Dying Light: The Following – Enhanced Edition who also happen to have a Tobii EyeX will be gaining access to over a dozen new features thanks to a deal between both parties.
New features, as highlighted in the latest trailer which you can find below, include aiming throws and shots with your gaze, as well as the ability to use your eyes as an indication of where you would like to climb when experiencing the game’s free-running.
Most impressively however is the adaptive HDR, which you can see at around 55 second in, and has the players eyes dictate the HDR rather than the central point of the camera.
There’s a few other games, including Steep and Deus Ex Mankind Divided, which make use of the controller too, you can find a full list on the tobiigaming website.
The controllers start from €109, which is certainly cheaper than the major VR headsets, and while not immersive is certainly functionally justified; and will be moreso if it continues to receive support. I imagine it could be very impressive with RTS’, for a start.
For now though, having it help me book it away from Zombies is a damn good start.
