Shock Tactics, Sci-Fi Strategy with Heavy Focus on AI Behaviour, Gets Steam Page, Trailer
Shock Tactics, from new studio Point Blank Games, has now got it’s own Steam page ahead of its release later this year.
The game, for those unaware, sees you controlling a group of trailblazers, essentially heavy scouts for a group of space-faring pioneers seeing out a new place to call home in the deepest depths of space.
As one might imagine, it’s never as simple as that. Pirates, aliens, and… imperials are all out to stop your group of space-faring soldiers.
The game plays out in from an isometric view, withe game having a very similar style to the award-winning moderisation of the XCOM series. That said, the content of the game, from the more alien setting, to the weapons and technology, on to the procedural map and offensive (as opposed to XCOM’s primarily defensive) campaign.
Most impressive is the AI that is on show, adaptive enemies who will assess and take advantage of the player’s weaknesses without cheating. It seems like a lofty feature, but when you read a little more into the siblings behind the project, Sara & Leonard Kausch, and spot that both received funding regarding AI technology, it all becomes a lot more plausible.
Shock Tactics is expected to launch in Q1 of this year for Windows PC, you can check out the latest trailer below.
