Hidden Cats in Rome has you finding cats everywhere!
The cats have found their way to Rome and have taken all the color! Hidden Cats in Rome is another game in the Hidden Cats series, which has you looking to find a bunch of cats and restore color to their world. This time the city is — you guessed it — Rome, and subsequently features a whole bunch of classic architecture and local tourist hotspots from the region..
In Hidden Cats in Rome, you have to carefully spot and select cats in a monochromatic world. Once you have found all of the cats in an area, be that specific houses, bushes, or even in all of the cars driving through this city, the area will become colored in, showing that you’ve finished that area.
The game has a normal mode, with 120 cats in specific positions and three hints, however we always go for the advanced mode in these games. Advanced modes feature 200 cats placed randomly in the same picture of Rome, with a bunch of special cats and city people that you also need to find. Unlike the cats, you will have a limited number of people to find in the picture and finding one person will then remove them from the bar of pictures to find and a new person will appear there. The special cats are cats with stories related to Rome.
Hidden Cats in Rome also has information cards that appear when specific buildings are finished, giving you facts about Rome. This is a neat addition to the game and not one that was in the previous games from the series. Finishing the entire picture in the advanced mode of the game, which is very satisfying, will then unlock a bunch of bonus levels. These levels are related to the special cats, as specific sets of special cats unlock different areas with 50, 75 or 100 cats in each of these single locations. They are inside buildings; An ice cream place, a fountain, a pasta shop and more.
If you do complete all of the Special Cat levels, you unlock a further Nerd Arena! The Nerd Arena doesn’t have any cats and instead focuses entirely on the ‘find the person’ aspect of the game, with a limited number of people appearing at the top of the screen. If you find one, it will be replaced with another to find and will add color to the person itself and not the area they’re within.
We play Hidden Cats in Rome as a family, putting it on our living room TV and passing around the controller or pointing at the screen and trying to find cats together. I know it’s not really a multiplayer game, but these sort of hidden object games are best played with your family all helping you! There is just something really fun and satisfying about bringing color to these little worlds and finding hidden cat faces everywhere.
You can purchase Hidden Cats in Rome for PC, Nintendo Switch and Xbox.
