Title: Lost Ember
Developer: Mooneye Studios
What type of game is it?
What’s the 30 second elevator pitch?
Play as a wolf, and a variety of land, sea, and water animals as you journey across a post-human world to get your guide home, and discover the history of the world along the way.
What do we like most about it?
The team have created a vast, beautiful world rife with history and life, yet somehow dominated by the absence of humanity, though not their effects on the world.
As with Journey, Shelter, Dear Esther and many more that followed, there’s something about a silent protagonist that -when done right- can add more character to the world around the player. From what’s on show of Lost Ember it certainly looks like it’s set to join the ranks of those revered titles which give their narrative through non-conventional means.
The game is currently on Kickstarter where, at time of writing, it is already fully funded with 30 days left to go, there’s a massive variety of oddments available for backers, so if this is something that interests you then it’s definitely worth heading over to the page — and, of course, if you’re interested from the trailer, go and vote for the game on Greenlight.
When’s it due?
Lost Ember is currently on Kickstarter, where it has an estimated fulfilmnet date of March 2018, when it releases it will do so for Xbox One, PS4, and Windows PC. The developers have stated that Mac & Linux versions may well follow.
