Title: Legrand Legacy
What type of game is it?
What’s the 30 second elevator pitch?
A massive sweeping tale of war across the land of Legrand, build in the image of classic 90’s JRPGs.
What do we like most about it?
The developers have done a fantastic job of nailing the aesthetics of their influences; set camera angles combined with pre-rendered static images as backgrounds, in-depth RPG creation (although this is more freeform than most of the classics) and a type based battle system.
The fact that the combat system combines both Rock-Paper-Scissors combat a la Fire Emblem, and an elemental system is very interesting, and the timing based attack options (reminiscent of FF8’s trigger system) combined with both of them means that combine will hopefully not end up as much of a grind as some of the genre’s previous outings.
Finally, I hate it coming down to visuals, but the game does look (and sound) absolutely wonderful, from the painted, static scenes, to the modernised take on instanced combat.
I’m really looking forward to finding out more about Lagrande, as well as the other five party members as shown on the logo.
When’s it due?
Legrand Legacy doesn’t have a release date yet, nor a rough release window. The developers are currently aiming for a launch on Windows PC.
