Doronko Wanko – Pure Chaos In It’s Cutest Form
Doronko Wanko is all about making a mess. You play as a small Pomeranian or with the soon to be released new dogs and breeds, in a lovely, nice, bright-and-white family home. You’ve just come in from playing in the mud.
As soon as you take your first steps in Doronko Wanko you can tell this is going to get very out of control very quickly with you dirtying the floor immediately. Run riot, knock things over, shake your little dog booty to get all of the mud, paint, food or whatever else you manage to get on yourself straight onto anything and everything in the house. The goal is, simply, to cause as much damage as possible.

Here everything is charming, from the adorable dogs to the extremely sleepy family dotted around the house (who seem to, in no way, ever wake up). No matter if you’ve detonated the wine cellar or ruined someone’s artistic works this family will doze straight through it like nothing is wrong.
The badge list featured in Doronko Wanko is something of a to-do list, if you aren’t just here to cause sheer chaos. Most of the badges will be things that you’ll likely achieve by accident, by just picking things up and causing a mess, however, some will require you to put a small amount of thought into them. I felt compelled to finish the list because, well, if you’re going to destroy a house you may as well finish the job.
There’s also a large amount of what I’m going to describe as tools and/or weaponry at your disposal in Doronko Wanko. You start off by emptying cans of soup or knocking bottles over but after you’ve destroyed enough you are blessed by the delivery gods with a messmaking menagerie of goodies to make the job that much easier.

Although it focuses on the destruction of this (soon to be poor) family’s home, there are a number of secret paintings to find dotted around the world. Some you’ll find through wanton destruction of the family home, whereas others may require specific tools or ways to get to hard to reach places to find. There are 12 in total, and once you’ve got them all you’re permitted to enter a secret room.
There’s also puns-a-plenty with the developers clearly making an effort to pun everything they could off of “pome”. Whether that be through a number of the medals or through the in-world delivery system.

Bandai Namco released Doronko Wanko as part of its “rookie training program”, also known as GEMini, allowing some of its newer talent to gain experience, work on some cool ideas, as well as see their creation make its way through to full-release. It’s a fascinating initiative that I hope we see more of.
The new dogs that will be available as DLC on the 23rd of July along with the Switch version include the Toy Poodle, Shiba-Inu, Bulldog, Jack Russell Terrier and of course the Corgi. These should all be available with the Switch versions release as well as on Steam.
You can find Doronko Wanko on Steam and Nintendo Switch.
