Epic dogfighting in the sky always makes for an intense time. In Wingy Shooter, you’ll get to participate in a blocky, 3D war full of boss fights and bullets.
Despite the silly name, Wingy Shooter is a pretty intense mobile game. You are always automatically shooting — but it’s up to you to control the direction you are moving. Tapping the left or right side of the screen allows you to move in that direction, shooting along the way. Each level has loads of enemies coming from all sorts of directions, so you’ll need to be on your toes.
Along with bullets, you also fire out occasional torpedoes that move directly towards enemies. At the top of the screen, in the version that I played at Casual Connect, there was a timeline that moved forward as I killed more enemies. This timeline showed when the next boss fight was, and the boss fights were always pretty epic endeavours.
Giant planes — single engine planes, paper planes, etc — appear within the level. You’ll then need to focus on them, as less single enemies appear, destroying them completely before returning to the normal level. As you continue to fight, you’ll also grab more money and power-ups to help you along the way.
In Wingy Shooter, you can also change the flying contraption that you use. There are hot air balloons, blimps and more, all to be unlocked using in game currency that you earn through surviving long runs. This simple mobile game is very polished and well made, although it can get monotonous over time.
