Get Bit – Cute meeples, fun game

0
I was drawn to playing Get Bit at The Dice Box King’s Lynn on a recent visit due to how cute the meeples looked. That’s not normally something that I really consider, but these meeples were little divers, with detachable limbs, which just seemed like a cool idea. It turns out, this is a major part of the gameplay!

Get Bit is a game all about trying not to be the first one eaten. This is done through placing down numbers in your deck of cards. The issue is, you and everyone you play against all have the same numbers. The game moves in phases, with one face being everyone placing down a card, then resolving the card, then moving the meeples. The cards played become  discard pile.

If two people put down the same number in Get Bit, those cards are discarded and nothing changes. Otherwise, the person with the lowest number that wasn’t removed for being a duplicate can then move their meeple to the front of the line. The next lowest number moves in front of them, and so on until all cards are resolved. Then, it moves onto a phase where the shark must attack.

In Get Bit, the meeple closest to the shark has to remove one of their limbs, moves to the very front of the line, and that player gets to re-shuffle all of their deck back into their hand, so they have more numbers to choose from. It’s an interesting way to balance things, and it’s challenging to keep track of exactly what numbers have been used and have not.

Get Bit is quite fun to play around with, especially when it comes to the meeples and removing their various limbs! Once a meeple is completely eaten, that player is out, and the last one standing is the winner. In the two player mode that we played, each of us got to be two meeples, so playing two at the same time was quite a challenge in itself. It’s an interesting game, with very cute pieces, that feels like it could be played with children and adults alike.

You can purchase Get Bit on Chaos Cards.
