Vote Me – How Fast can you make a Speech?!
Politics are often quite strange with their long rambling speeches on policies that don’t make any real sense. In Vote Me, it takes this concept of weird speeches and challenges you and your friends to make random speeches on funny topics.
Vote Me is pretty simple; everyone gets their party card and a bunch of voting cards. These political parties have funny names like the Orange Jelly Party and the Red Balloon Party. It’s a random color and a random object put together, which is already quite funny to start.
The rounds themselves have two cards being revealed. One card shows the type of speech you need to make, like on heath or housing, giving you a guide to what you will be talking about. The other card has six different topics in a category. This can be things like food or vehicles. On your turn, you will roll a die to decide which item on the category card you need to be highlighting in your speech. This gives a really good structure to the game and can have some silly combinations.
You then have one minute — there is a timer — to make your speech. You can take this as seriously or as non-seriously as you’d like! Then, the next party rolls their die, gets their category item, and makes a speech on the same topic until all of the parties have gone. The party order for speeches is determined by laying out party cards each round near the country/region that you are making the speech for.
Everyone then votes for the best speech (or can abstain) and a new leader of the area card is determined. They then keep that land card as a point to score. The game can be played in best of three, best of five and so on, with different country cards for each option. Vote Me is a small and simple game, that might work extremely well as a night of drinking game, where everyone can just be silly and have a good time. We really enjoyed Vote Me, despite initially being a bit scared about making speeches.
