Redmi Buds 3 Pro – great for price and quality

I’m not a cool person. I never have been. The idea of wireless earbuds has always seemed like anathema to me — nearly £200 for a pair of Earbuds that you’ll inevitably lose, just for the sake of looking good? No thanks. However, for the Redmi Buds 3 Pro, I’m prepared to make an exception — mainly because I was sent them for free… But, now I’m going to tell you why you should pay £50 or so for them,

Well, honestly, price measured against convenience is a massive factor. The Redmi Buds 3 Pro is packaged in a compact box which looks as though it were designed and produced in the same factory as any official Apple product. The box is the same “soft” white card, and the internal moulding fits the product snugly. The manual is brief and lacks detail, but it does enough to ensure you can connect the product to your device (or devices).Redmi Buds 3 Pro

The Redmi Buds 3 Pro are offered in either grey or black, and I have the grey version here. The outer case is a small, almost egg-shaped clamshell design which has a magnetic lid that fits nicely around the buds. A short USB-A to USB-C lead is provided, allowing the user to charge the earbuds via the case with relative simplicity. The Redmi Buds 3 Pro offer around six hours of listening time between charges, and if charged via the case, the literature suggests up to thirty hours of total listening time without charging from any other source.

The Redmi Buds 3 Pro comes with several different sizes of earphone adaptor and I was able to find a perfect fit right away. On an iPhone, there is little in terms of configuration offered, however I have seen an app on Android devices which allows for various custom settings. ANC can be enabled or disabled by tapping the earbuds, which is an ideal workaround for an Apple user such as myself.

In terms of sound quality, the Redmi Buds 3 Pro really are top drawer. Aside from being a bit bass-heavy (which can possibly be changed via that app we don’t have on Apple) the sound is fantastic. Music is rich and vibrant, whilst vocals or voice can be picked out with ease amongst any other background noise within the recording.

I’ve listened to a wide range of music using the Redmi Buds 3 Pro and I felt they performed well with either delicate vocals (Laura Marling, Joni Mitchell, Sufjan Stevens) or heavier music such as Iron Maiden or AC-DC. Even fast-paced sequences typical of dance music (Faithless, Prodigy) sounded excellent.

Whilst I am not a technologist that is able to assess the finer details of a product like this, I would say that from a consumer perspective, these are excellent earbuds. The overall production quality, the battery life, the look and feel and the sound quality are all as good as I would have expected from an Apple or Samsung product, but at a £50 price point, Redmi Buds 3 Pro are close to a complete no-brainer.
