Let’s School is a sim builder with big consequences for your actions
Let’s School is a game where you can restore a school to its former glory. You have to manage it well so that your students can pass their exams and achieve their dreams in later life!
Everyone has a different experience at school. In Let’s School the job is to give your students good ones.
It includes lots of customization options. You can edit your appearance, and pick uniforms for each class. You can also customize your hallways and classrooms with specific items. There are even different maps to choose from when you start your school!
Unfortunately, you can’t blow all your money on exciting amenities. I wish you could, as getting a swimming pool on campus would be great. But the more pressing matter is that your school is currently in ruins. You’re going to need to add in everything the students and teachers need. Your academy, unfortunately, does not come looking like this:
You’re going to have to build everything from scratch. If you don’t, the students will have some problems with you.
This, as you can imagine, gets quite difficult, particularly since a lot of things need to be unlocked via the Research Room, which will take a long time. You also need to adjust the lighting and temperature — students can acquire sight conditions if they’ve “been in the dark too long”.
In addition, students do occasionally break the rules. It will often be a group. This feature makes the game feel more realistic because your students are not obedient robots. (I think it would be a lot easier for headmasters if they were!) Upon ending this behavior the students involved receive a demerit. Three demerits and guess what! You can expel them. It’s strangely compelling to do this.
However, they’re not all bad. For example, students are happy to dress up in smart uniforms, and to clean up after themselves. You can even place broccoli on their desks for encouragement! The students will also have chats and play games. It’s awesome watching them live their lives.
Like in real life, disasters like fires can occur. I was unprepared for this and my food tent was burned to a crisp. I don’t see why they added this — your school’s chaotic enough!
There is also a lot of pressure to get your students taught well. You only have a week between exams, and you have to spend money on training your teachers so they can help the students excel. The children also need to be happy to do well. You really have to manage your money well so you can train teachers and build things at the same time.
Then there are features which you just don’t need. An example of this is headmaster mode, which is just walking around. I think Pathea really wanted the game to have lots of bells and whistles, and got carried away.
Another interesting feature is sending students to clubs. These include sports and music teams. Some students will have attributes that will aid them in certain activities — for example tall children are brilliant at basketball.
Overall, I’d say Let’s School is probably better for people who have played similar games before, as it is a bit overwhelming with everything going on. However, it can still be a fun experience for anyone!
Let’s School is available on PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC.
