Echo of the Waves – a watercolor adventure

Echo of the Waves is a stunning, puzzle-based adventure game set in a watercolor world. Playing as Zephyr, a cartographer-musician who is looking to discover this new place, you’ve got a lot of exploring to do and mysteries to solve.

Echo of the Waves is a very mysterious game. You’re looking to preserve an ancestral bond with nature, specifically, the nature of this new island that you’re also exploring. You’ll need to keep a keen eye as you explore, as everywhere seems to have hidden secrets and little puzzles that you can then put in your journal.

Hints are around, you just need to look and see them. Lining up perfect portals before playing your music, allowing yourself to move forward to a land beyond where you are. The way these puzzles need to be lined up, and the play on perspective in Echo of the Waves, is what makes this game really unique. You can sort of tilt the world, lining up bits of the world or finding new places, so that you can activate and explore.

These layers can bring you to a new space, where you can find your way through the environment, discovering something new. I only got the chance to play a short demo at WASD this year, but between the captivating world and the sleek puzzles that make you really look around you, I was captivated. There is just so much to this world, and you can almost not even see them at first, unless you look around. The little bits of music you hear are also fantastic, as they open up a new path for you to explore.

You can currently wishlist Echo of the Waves on Steam, ahead of it’s release.
