The land you travel is fairly vast and 20 hours in, as a completionist, I was surprised at how vast it was in addition to the variety on offer between the various areas.

The Song in the Smoke has an interesting art style that, at times, almost feels like a living canvas with thick oil paint used to bring to life the surroundings and inhabitants.

Players shouldn’t expect to waltz through with some sharp wit. It’s hard, it’s meant to be, so enjoy the experience and experiment since the levels are a great sandbox of interactivity to have fun in.

A strong showing from TiGames, FIST is a great platformer with some unique mechanics, smooth platforming and interesting varied combat.

If you go into it with the right level of expectation; players will find an arcade fighter, great use of a licence and some fun (if not long lasting) one on one competition.

Quests and Cannons feels and looks great, has high replay value and some deep strategy mechanics hidden under some beautiful, unique artwork.

New characters can be rescued from the blight if you can find them within a level and then escape successfully after completing your mission. You can find them back at the camp and fall into one of three camps — Warriors, Assassins and…

Whilst the content may not be the strongest on offer the humour and writing is; and it’s what will keep fans of the dynamic duo playing to the bitter end.

The Ascent looks and runs amazingly well on the Series X, it’s smooth and whilst the load times are few and far between they are pretty snappy.
