Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island shows greek gods in a new light
Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island is a goofy, charming puzzle game where you find yourself shipwrecked on a strange island, with some people who seem somehow familiar. You play as Alex, who is now tasked to figure out a way off this island all while meeting the locals and understanding better what happened to you.
When you start exploring the island in Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island, you will find that a lot of the other people on the island are actually Greek Gods, but they’ve forgotten who they are. This beautiful paradise of sunshine and soft sand has kept the gods from really thinking about who they are, but now you’re able to become their friends and find items that you can gift them, so they can remember who they truly are.
As you become friends with the people of this island, you will come to find that they have become quite… disapproving of each other, not wanting to interact or talk with the other gods on the island. Becoming their friends is a bit of a challenge, especially as they are so fearful of people generally, but you are able to take on little quests and talk with them to become their friends. There isn’t a linear way to play this game, so exploring the island and doing whatever you want during the day is just a part of the gameplay.
Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island is all about friendship, and discovering lots about Greek Gods. The stories that they have and the way that you can become friends within the game showcase a heavy focus on narrative design, which felt really captivating. I only got the chance to play a bit of the game at WASD, but it really stuck with me and stayed in the back of my mind. This game is funny, wholesome, and just quite fun!
Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island is projected to released in Q3 of 2024, but you can play a free demo and wishlist the game right now on Steam.
