Steam Spy: 5245 Titles Released on Steam in 2016, 408 Games are Sub 500 Owners

The Steam Spy on Twitter has sent out a couple of interesting Tweets today pertaining to the growth of Valve’s Steam service over the previous year.

Firstly, it confirmed that 5245 titles released on the platform over 2016, and that 408 of them did not yet have over 500 owners,

While we don’t have specifics on the titles in question, there is a chance that more than a few of them were releases late in the year, which have been selling gradually, but not yet achieved the -what might be perceived as small- milestone.

There is, of course, also the chance that the developer failed to get the word out on the title, or their attempts were completely overshadowed by bigger titles launching at the time. There are, certainly, a few weeks of the year which are dominated by bigger titles.

There were also further tweets pertaining to the market growth, which I had originally intended to post here, however after a few further posts regarding growth through larger titles, specific audiences (GTA V, China), it was made clear that it was best to hold out for the retrospect article than hang on every word.
